Weetbix Tryathlon 2013

Wow it was such a buzz being up in Gisborne on Wednesday. We had 5 teams from Room 1 but I am pretty sure we could get the whole school there next year. I was very proud of the training some people put into the event. Thank you Aunty Les for giving up your time after school. That good old say, 'Hard work pays off,' was soooooooooo true. I hope everyone enjoyed their day!!!

Tairawhiti Museum

Koka Jen was here on Wednesday to visit Room 1 and share her artistic talent! We worked on an abstract tiki, incorporating Pablo Picasso's work. The art Jen brought from the museum was inspiration for us all - you should see how the finished pieces turned out!!!

Year 8 Leaders

Here at Te Mahia School we have a very coooooooool bunch of Year 8 leaders. They are responsible for morning fitness, lunch orders, library, fruit distribution, PE Shed, helping out with Room 3 and being the lovely people that they are. They are also considering other projects that they would like to lead this year - already I have heard whispersof Rippa Rugby House competitions, Te Mahia School has got Talent and performances for people in the community. How could you help them out and support them with their ideas?

Self Portrait

We learnt about a new technique called cross hatching. This enabled us to make our portrait look more textured and real life, especially when it came to our skin and nose. We used people crayons and pastels to create our master piece. What do you think about how they turned out? Here are two exceptional pieces of art work with learners that took time and effort to create a visual symphony.
